Exley excels while Park snatch 13-goal thriller!

It was a soggy Saturday as cup ties took centre-stage - with some incredible scorelines and individual feats, writes BEN SMITH with pictures from Dalton v Millom by LEE HOLMES.

This weekend was another where cup action took centre stage, however there is first a full calendar of Premier Division fixtures to digest.

CMB extended their lead at the top of the division to five points, as they triumphed 4-1 over Thornton Cleveleys in a top of the table clash.

Christian McCrory netted twice in the win, joined on the scoresheet by Charlie Scholes and Dylan Winstanley.

Thornton Cleveleys’ only goal came via an own goal just before the break.

Elsewhere, Lostock St Gerards are up into third after 6-0 win at Wyre Villa, in which Luke Noble netted a hat-trick and Danny Ormerod hit a double.

Olly Evans rounded off the scoring.

In total, three Premier Division sides hit six on Saturday, with a Greg Brickell hat-trick helping Coppull United on their way to a 6-1 victory against Slyne with Hest.

Taylor Brickell also scored twice, whilst Jimmy McIver got one. William Sharkey scored Slyne’s on goal of the game.

Meanwhile, it was 6-2 as Tempest United saw off Whitehaven, in no small part thanks to four goals from Sam Parkinson.

Tom Booth and George Scott were also on target to seal the win for a Tempest side who had trailed twice, with both Owen Woodburn and Brad Harrison striking to briefly put Whitehaven ahead.

Fulwood Amateurs scored four on their way to an away win at Turton, with Jonty McDonald bagging a brace in an eventual 4-2 triumph.

Goals from Will Sim and Spencer Lucas then secured the three points for Fulwood, whilst Ricardo Pembele got both goals for the hosts, including one from the spot.

Michael Galliers’ equaliser and 91st minute winner from Jordan Lord saw Burscough Richmond beat Rossendale 2-1, that despite the latter having led the majority of the game through Luke Simpson’s eighth minute opener.

Milnthorpe Corinthians ended a run of three straight defeats with a 3-0 success over Poulton.

The hosts made the early running but couldn’t find the breakthrough until a minute before the break when Craig Ronald curled in from 20 yards.

Ronald doubled the advantage on 72 minutes hitting a left foot shot from a similar distance into the top right hand corner.

Reece Pearce – who had a goal disallowed earlier for offside – made the points safe when he slammed home from Joel Davidson’s left wing cross.

Milnthorpe had chances to extend their lead but Shaun Gardner and George Loran flashed headers wide.

Matty Bailey in the home goal was largely untroubled but showed safe hands in the wet conditions to deny Aidan Wintrip from 20 yards and also tipped a volley on to the bar as Poulton kept battling.

Adam Riding in the Poulton goal, however, produced the moment of the match late on, three times saving at the feet of Milnthorpe’s strikers in rapid succession.

It was so good it even drew applause from Milnthorpe boss Chris Humphrey and spectators all around the ground.

And completing our look at the Premier Division are Cleator Moor Celtic, who claimed a 1-0 at Blackpool Wren Rovers through a Luke Close penalty.

In the Lancashire Amateur Shield, there was just one tie involving a West Lancs side this weekend, with Hurst Green advancing to the second round with a 2-1 win at Avenue.

It was a more stacked schedule of Richardson Cup action, however, as the first round got under way on Saturday, throwing up some incredible scorelines in the process.

Particularly eye-catching was the clash between Hawcoat Park and Astley and Buckshaw, in which the former eventually triumphed 7-6, despite having trailed on four separate occasions.

Sam Johnston hit a hat-trick for Hawcoat, with Kian Holt scoring twice and Sam Beattie and Matthew Roberts also getting on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, Adnaan Patel and Danny Cooper both got braces for Astley and Buckshaw, whilst Lucas Gornall and Scott Hammill netted one apiece.

Pause United and Haslingden St Mary’s both registered 8-0 victories, defeating Caton United and Galgate respectively.

Ben Roberts, Jack Preston and Taylor Fagan each scored twice in Pause United’s win, with goals from Richard Hart and Oliver Watson rounding off the scoring.

And Lewis Hanley hit a hat-trick for Haslingden St Mary’s, joined on the scoresheet by Dale McVey (who scored twice), Brady Boardman, Michael White and Dylan Harris.

Millom won 7-1 at Dalton United, with Jamie Pattinson and Callum High both scoring twice, and Jordan Brumby, Jed Philip and Declan Tyson getting one each.

The hosts’ only goal came via a late Robbie McMurdo consolation.

There was a 6-2 win for Kendal County over Walney Island, in which Connor Walmsley netted a hat-trick and Jay Hayton scored twice.

Jack Brench also found the net in the win, whilst Walney Island’s goals were both scored by Zach Walker.

And Storeys beat Chipping 5-3, thanks to a hat-trick from Joe Wareing and two from Matthew Poole.

Chipping’s goals, meanwhile, came courtesy of a Jake Unsworth brace and Joe Melling penalty.

It was a brilliant afternoon for Billy Bould, who scored all four of Lytham Town’s goals in their 4-3 win at Carnforth Rangers, whose goals came via a Joe Wilkinson brace and Ben Turton’s 28th minute opener.

Jonny Voortman hit a hat-trick as Kendal United beat AFC Blackpool Reserves 7-0, with Jude Close, James Thornley, Ryan Close and Cameron Horner also on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, Sheldon Mossop, Kyle Jefferson, Aiden Pearson and Callum Rayner were all on target as Askam United won 4-2 at Charnock Richard Reserves, whose scorers were Tom Cooper and Jack Edwards.

Holker Old Boys Reserves are though through, despite Luke Ellis and Robbie Wallace’s first-half goals being cancelled out by Rory Walmsley and Ethan Dalton.

Farryl Foster’s 87th minute strike restored his side’s lead and sealed a 3-2 win at Garstang Reserves.

Ulverston Rangers also triumphed on the road, with Sam Pinnegor, Mark Jackson and Sean Mooney netting in a 3-1 at Freckleton, whose only goal came via Levi Hopkins.

It was 3-1 too at Crooklands Casuals, who saw off Eagley thanks to a Harvey Irving double and a goal from Ryan Rodgers.

Ben Kirkman netted a consolation for the visitors in second-half stoppage time.

Stoneclough secured their place in the second round in dramatic fashion, with Kieran Parker and Ben Austin netting in the 83rd and 87th minute respectively to a seal 2-1 comeback over Southport Hesketh, who had taken the lead on the hour mark through Tom Cunliffe.

And in the final tie of the weekend, Hesketh Bank beat Croston Sports 1-0, with Luke Smith scoring the only goal of the game.

It was also the opening weekend of the Stewart Rowe Memorial Cup, where in Group A, Fulwood Amateurs Reserves beat Storeys Reserves 7-1 thanks to braces from Hugo Strand and Alex Smithson, and goals from Reece Jones, Layton Kirnon and George Lowe.

Kane Windsor got Storeys Reserves’ only goal.

In the same group, four goals from Jack Williams helped Freckleton Reserves record a 6-2 win at Thornton Cleveleys A, with Jordan Cartwright and Samson Ogundaisi also netting in the victory.

Owen Bennett and Kyle Housley got the goals for the hosts.

Meanwhile, Olly Hesford hit a hat-trick as Blackpool Wren Rovers Reserves won 4-2 at Fulwood Amateurs A, with Luke Smith also on target for the visitors.

Charlie Whitworth scored both goals for Fulwood Amateurs A.
In Group B, Cole Exley put in a five-star performance, netting each of Turton Reserves’ goals in their 5- 3 win at Rossendale Reserves, whose goals came courtesy of Bradley Marsh and a Noah Chamberlain double.

Will Hockings and Connor Smith both scored twice as Thornton Cleveleys Reserves beat Tempest United Reserves 6-2, with Jake Mangan and Tommy Dollin also on target in the win.

Tempest United Reserves had taken an early lead through Dominic Court, whilst James Dean was the scorer of their second.

Elsewhere, a Jared Bain brace secured a 3-1 victory for Poulton Reserves over Croston Sports Reserves, that after Coby Williams’ fifth minute opener had been cancelled out by a Niall Maloney penalty.

Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves are setting the early pace in Group C of the competition, with Dan Nowell netting a hat-trick in an 8-3 win at Hesketh Bank Reserves.

Will Booth bagged a brace, whilst Tom Shaw, Chris Harper and Charlie Morton were also on target in the win.

Kacper Ganczarski, Owen Cuerden and Joe Stead were the scorers for the home side.

Carnforth Rangers Reserves also picked up a comprehensive win on the road, with goals from Ross Coulton, George Drake, Ihor Galona and Will Beeden securing a 4-0 win at Rossendale A.

At Haslingden St Mary’s Reserves, Charlie Lord netted the winner as the home side beat visitors Coppull Reserves 3-2, that after a quickfire double from Toby Wilkinson and James Goodyear had been cancelled out by similarly rapid goals from Alex Dodoaca and Scott Hendy.

And finally, we move into Group D, where a Damian Green double helped Lostock St Gerards Reserves see off Lytham Town Reserves 4-2.

Luke Goodeve and Adam Whittaker also netted in the win, whilst Liam Sinclair and Tom Kelsey were the scorers for Lytham Town Reserves.

Mike Linney’s opener was cancelled out by Will Hearne as Eagley Reserves and Chipping Reserves played out a 1-1 draw.

And we round off this edition of the roundup with CMB Reserves, who opened their cup campaign with a 2-1 victory at Hurst Green Reserves.
