West Lancs 'Groundhop' hosts revealed for 2026/27

The West Lancashire League and GroundhopUK are pleased to announce the host clubs for the league’s second August Bank Holiday weekend groundhop.

After a hugely successful inaugural 'hop' last season, which saw 3,484 spectators attend nine West Lancs matches over the weekend, the “hop” returns from August 28-31.

The hosts are planned to be:
Friday Aug 28 - Coppull United
Saturday Aug 29 - Caton United, Storeys, Galgate
Sunday Aug 30 - Stoneclough, Eagley, Turton
Monday Aug 31 - Rossendale, Haslingden

Kick off times are still to be confirmed.

League Chairman Andy Hosker said today: “Last year’s event was a big success for the League, not only with the numbers attending the games but with the huge boost to the League’s profile and reputation nationally.

"I am delighted that we will be welcoming everyone again at August Bank Holiday, and the clubs are already really looking forward to the event.”

Speaking after last year's event, Chris Berezai from Groundhop UK said: “It’s been absolutely fantastic. The grounds have been lovely, the settings have been stunning and they’ve all been well supported by local people and groundhoppers alike.

"The atmosphere throughout has been superb and the standard of play has impressed a lot of people here."
