Weaver heads east as non-league clubs eye West Lancs talents

Hotshot young striker Lucas Weaver has been snapped up by Northern Premier League side Colne - as other West Lancashire League talents go on trial.

The Fulwood Amateurs youngster, who scored 20 goals in the league for Tony Hesketh's men, will play for Colne in the Northern Premier League West division - three divisions higher than the West Lancashire League Premier Division.

Colne's manager is Phil Brown who worked alongside Hesketh at Lancaster City previously.

Weaver told the club's website: "I am delighted to join Phil at Colne where I am buzzing to get started and show everyone what I can produce."

Meanwhile, Thornton Cleveleys striker Dom Lawson has played for Lancaster City in pre-season games while Jack Arrowsmith, of Blackpool Wren Rovers, has starred for Longridge Town, of the North West Counties Premier League.
