Butler ready to serve up a Rangers revolution

Gavin Butler will be hoping his past investment in youth will help Ulverston Rangers challenge at the right end of the Division One table.

Butler (pictured top middle) is the new man at the helm of Rangers with pre-season plans well underway ahead of the 2022/23 season.

He will be assisted by Mike Penny (above left) and head coach Corey Smith (above right) and will be looking to improve on a 12th placed finish last term.

A club spokesman said: “Gavin had taken a step back for a couple of years developing the youth teams and this season we have started to see the benefits of his hard work.

“Gav has brought many of them through into open age this season and already we have seen five or six of them in the West Lancashire League team.

“Cayden Butler, Samson Storey, Joe Dockery, Jake Woods, Jack Sweeting and Jack Davies have all had West Lancs experience last year.

“Mike Penny and Corey Smith have done a remarkable job in the last 12 months and we are lucky that they have decided to stay on and help Gav.”
