On-the-spot Parkinson's rare hat-trick feat

Tempest United's Sam Parkinson netted a hat-trick all from the penalty spot on another goal-laden Saturday, writes BEN SMITH with pictures from Fulwood A v Croston Res by GRAHAM LANCASTER.

Premier Division leaders CMB made an ideal return to winning ways on Saturday, recovering from last weekend’s heavy defeat at Blackpool Wren Rovers with a 4-0 victory against Wyre Villa.

Dylan Winstanley opened and completed the scoring, with the other goals coming courtesy of Christian McCrory and a Dan Crook penalty.

Meanwhile, Wrens backed up that previous big win with another this weekend, with Ric Seear netting four in a 5-0 win at Milnthorpe Corinthians.

Luke Harris also got on the scoresheet.

But the division’s largest win of the weekend would go to Lostock St Gerards, who are now up to fourth after an 8-1 triumph over Slyne with Hest.

Slyne had taken the lead 10 minutes in through Hayden Ellis, before Luke Noble went on to score four, and Isaac Loftus, Danny Ormerod, Troy Carsley and Charlie Markland all also got on the scoresheet.

Elsewhere, Burscough Richmond and Poulton also scored comeback victories, ultimately seeing off Whitehaven and Coppull United respectively.

Billy Whittle’s brace, either side of a goal from Zach Carbury, saw Burscough win 3-1 after Travis Fyfe had opened the scoring on the half-hour mark, whilst Poulton won 3-2, recovering from first-half goals from Dylan Bennett and Greg Brickell thanks to Andy Harvie and a Jack Flackett double.

Thornton Cleveleys fought from two down to earn a point at home against Rossendale, with Oliver Wilkinson and Adam Sumner cancelling out Tom Hartley’s opener and an own goal.

Cleator Moor Celtic beat Turton 2-1, with Adam Smith and Leigh Dunn netting either side of Sam Hulme’s equaliser.

And last but certainly not least in our look at this week’s Premier Divison action are Tempest United, who won 4-3 at Hurst Green, thanks in no small part to a hat-trick of penalties from Sam Parkinson.

Aaron Thorpe was also on target in the win, whilst the Hurst Green resistance was headed by the Hepples, as Nick netted either a brace either side of a goal from Luke.

In to Division One, and Ulverston Rangers continue to set some pace at the top, picking up three points again this weekend as goals from Sam Pinnegor, Scott McDonald and Jack Milburn sealed a 3-0 win at Lytham Town.

And that’s a pace they may well need to maintain, with now second-placed Eagley hot on their heels after another big win of their own.

Joe Howlin, Finlay Stafford, Kieran Lomax, Harvey Roberts and Paul Lomax all got on the scoresheet in a 6-0 win against Holker Old Boys Reserves, in a game which also included an own goal.

Croston Sports also registered a relatively routine home win, with a Dion Holden double, along with goals from Jordan Freeman and Nick Buckley, securing a 4-0 triumph over Kendal County.

And that was a result matched by Hesketh Bank, who saw off Crooklands Casuals by the same scoreline thanks to goals from Liam Hayton, Joe-Smyth Ferguson, Lewis Johnston and Sam Bailey.

Chipping beat Southport Hesketh 3-1, with Kane Froggatt, Chris Cookson and Harris Bailey all netting before Joe Tieney pulled one back with a penalty late on.

And Michael White also scored from the spot, grabbing the only goal of the game as Haslingden St Mary’s secured a commendable victory at high-flying Askam United.

In the final Division One fixture of the weekend, goals from Jed Philip and Harry Cowley saw Millom triumph 2-1 over Carnforth Rangers, that despite Oliver Rickerby halving the deficit with four minutes to play.

Pause United again ran up the pick of the Division Two scorelines, following last weekend’s 10-1 win with an 8-2 victory at Stoneclough.

Ben Roberts bagged a brace for the visitors, whilst Tom Knight, Norman Lynch, Jamie Wilkes, Jordan Lynch, Phil Meeks and Jack Preston all got one apiece.

Stoneclough’s goals came via Chris Smith and Tom Letcher.
There were also goals galore at Walney Island, who eventually registered a 5-3 victory over Kendal United.

Hayden Skyme scored twice in the win, joined on the scoresheet by Rob Bruce, Zach Walker and Will Boulton.

Sam McKee, Ryan Close and Jamie Harris were the scorers for Kendal.

Dalton United won 4-2 at Caton United, recovering from Kayne Taylor’s first minute opener thanks to goals from Declan Wallace and Cole Cooper, either side of a brace from Jordan Chubb.

Joe Baker was the scorer of the hosts’ second.

And Galgate also picked up three points on the road, making it back-to-back wins with a 3-1 victory at Astley and Buckshaw.

The win came courtesy of a Kieran Carpenter double and Chris Stripp penalty, with Scott Hammill getting the only goal for the hosts.

At the other end of the table, it was another solid afternoon’s work for leaders Freckleton, with goals from Joe Bentley and Macauley Hopkins sealing a 2-0 win at Charnock Richard Reserves.

Meanwhile, Storeys tasted victory by the same margin, with Joe Wareing and Ryan Yates getting on the scoresheet in a home victory.

Garstang Reserves close out our look at Division Two in style, after they recorded a 4-3 victory at AFC Blackpool Reserves.

In Division One Reserve, A Scott Hendy hat-trick, including a goal from the spot, helped Coppull Reserves beat Poulton Reserves 4-3, with Aaron Duffy also netting in a high-scoring victory.

Poulton Reserves’ goals came via Coby Williams and a brace from Jared Bain.

Adam Whittaker would also hit a double in vain, as Blackpool Wren Rovers Reserves won 3-2 against Lostock St Gerards Reserves thanks to goals from Tommy Hanslip, Henry Wright and Connor Taffe.

And in the last of three fixtures in the division this weekend, a quickfire first-half double from Harry Wignall and Hugo Strand saw Fulwood Amateurs Reserves win 2-1 at Tempest United Reserves, that despite Adam Haydock halving the deficit shortly after the break.

Lastly, we look at Division Two Reserve, where Storeys Reserves scored seven on the way to victory at Rossendale A.

Sol Featon netted a hat-trick in the win, whilst Oliver McDermott scored twice, and Wayne Beswick and Tom Charlson got one each.

Leon Grimshaw got the hosts’ only goal as the game eventually finished 7-1.

Haslingden St Mary’s Reserves continue to top the division, but remain level on points with Milnthorpe Corinthians as the pair played out a 2-2 draw.

The leaders had led 2-0 thanks to goals from Charlie Lord and George Haworth, but a Will Booth brace would ensure the points were shared.

In total, four teams are level at the top, including Freckleton Reserves, who beat Lytham Town Reserves 2-1 after Byron Fletcher and Josh Marshall struck either side of Oliver Heywood’s leveller.

And completing that leading quartet are Croston Sports Reserves, who picked up a 3-2 at Fulwood Amateurs A thanks to an Ewan Cheetham double and Ben Davies goal.

Dylan Jackson-Cooney got both goals for the hosts.

Rounding off this edition of the round-up are Carnforth Rangers Reserves, who beat Hesketh Bank Reserves 2-0, with Oliver Patterson and Ighor Galona getting on the scoresheet.
