Honorary Life President Dies on his 90th birthday.

Following a long illness it is with great sadness that the Leagues' Honorary Life President Mr Derrick Procter passed away on Saturday 5th July 2014,the date of his 90th birthday.

Derrick was appointed the Secretary of Aktinson Vehicles FC on their formation in 1953 serving as Secretary and then Chairman until he left the Company in 1964.

He joined the Management Committee of the West Lancashire League the following year' being appointed as Press Officer, a position he filled until 1975.Derrick continued to serve on the Management Committee being elected as Vice Chairman in 1982 and then Chairman in 1984. In the same year he received the Lancashire Football Association 30 year order of merit. He continued as Chairman until 1997 when he succeeded the late Harry Johnstone as President. In 2004 he was awarded the Football Association Order of Merit for 50 years service to football. In 2008 he decided to stand down as President following which the West Lancashire League made him a Honorary Life President.

Derricks funeral will take place at Charnock Richard Crematorium on Saturday 12th July 2014 at 10am.
