Premier Division: Coppull United see off late Lytham Town rally
With a number of sides in action in the third round of the Lancashire Amateur Shield, there were just four games in the Premier Division this weekend.

We start at Coppull United, who looked to be on their way to a relatively routine victory over Lytham Town, leading 3-0 with less than 10 minutes to play thanks to Luke Power and a brace from Jordan Lorde.

However, Lytham Town would pull two back through Ross Ainsworth and Lloyd Paton to set up a nervy final few minutes for the hosts.

Coppull United would ultimately hold on though to take a 3-2 win.

Elsewhere, Poulton returned to the top of the division, albeit having now played two more games than previous leaders Burscough Richmond, after they won 4-2 at Vickerstown.

A Nick Hepple hat-trick sealed the win, along with a goal from Luke Noble, whilst Kyle Delves and Danny Cummins got on the scoresheet for Vickerstown.

CMB are also up into second as a stoppage time winner saw them beat Wyre Villa 3-2.

CMB had twice given up the lead during the game, with goals from Oliver Turner and Charlie Scholes cancelled out by Ben Drummond and Richie Allen respectively.

But in the fourth minute of injury time, Obi Ebizie would score CMBs third, giving them what would prove this time to be a decisive lead.

Rounding off the Premier Division, Tempest United beat Whitehaven 2-1 thanks to goals from Jordan Coop and Connor Griffiths.

Kane Goulding halved the deficit from the spot, but Whitehaven were ultimately unable to find an equaliser.

Division One: Leaders Lostock St Gerards hit six

Oliver Evans and Ryan Salmon both bagged braces as Lostock St Gerards recorded a 6-1 win over Askam United.

Adam Stammers and Josh Sarda also grabbed a goal apiece, whilst Askam United’s goal came through Lee Irving.

Rossendale remain in hot pursuit of top spot after seeing off a spirited Carnforth Rangers side to win 4-3.

Paul Stannard, Tom Hartley, Scott Wylie and Tom Hulme all found the net to put Rossendale 4-0 up after 42 minutes.

However, goals from Stan Rich, Joe Wilkinson and Lucas Pennington saw Carnforth Rangers threatened to mount a miraculously comeback.

A fourth goal would not be forthcoming though, and Rossendale would hold on to take all three points.

Southport Hesketh meanwhile would secure a comeback victory, coming from two down to beat Hawcoat Park 3-2.

An own goal gave Hawcoat Park the lead early on, with Oliver Maguire adding a second just after the break.

But Southport Hesketh, through Matthew Norcross, Adam Mackin and Simon Hill, would battle back to claim victory.

Goals from Lewis Reeder, Leon Barker-Williams and two Lewis Hanley gave Haslingden St Marys a 4-0 win at Millom, whilst Eagley would also win on the road, beating Kendal County 2-1.

Luke Bradbury scored twice for the visitors, his goals coming either side of a strike from Kendal County’s Kieran Graham.

Two goals in four first-half minutes would help Crooklands Casuals on their way to a 3-0 win over Stoneclough. Damian Thompson would add the third late on.

Meanwhile, the scheduled fixture between Ulverston Rangers and Horwich St Mary’s Victoria was postponed.

Division 2: Ash on the Ball for Euxton Villa Reserves

A brace for Ash Ball helped Euxton Villa Reserves come from behind to win 2-1 at second-placed Freckleton, that after Joe Bentley had opened the scoring for the hosts.

That result allowed Holker Old Boys Reserves to extend their lead at the top, currently standing at eight points, after a 4-2 win at Burnley United.

The visitors’ goals came through Robbie Wallace, Freddie Lawton and a Faryl Foster brace, whilst Harris Tomlinson and Michael White found the net for Burnley United.

The chasing pack do though have games in hand on the leaders in which to make up ground, and remaining in the hunt are Chipping, who currently sit third and beat Charnock Richard Reserves 6-0 on Saturday.

Both Harris Bailey and Anthony Slater scored twice, with Ethan Edmundson and Gregg Trimbell also getting on the scoresheet.
Garstang Reserves twice fought from a goal down to secure a 3-2 victory at Galgate.

Mouhammed Ainine got Galgate off to a flying start with a goal in the first minute, only for Matthew Kitchen to equalise for the visitors just six minutes later.

The hosts’ second lead would be even more short lived, with Bevan Foxhall’s goal cancelled out by Jack Paynter within two minutes, before Liam Painter scored what would prove to be the winning goal for Garstang Reserves.

Kendal United were the fourth and final Division Two side to win on their travels, winning 4-1 at Cartmel.

Keenan Quill, Jordan Archer, Matthew Kennedy and Ryan Close were all on target for the visitors, with the latter scoring from the spot. Danny Reeve scored Cartmel’s only goal.

Two goals from Zach Walker set Walney Island on their way to a 4-2 win over Astley and Buckshaw.

Oliver Jackson and Matthew Lockley rounded off Walney Island’s scoring, whilst Kurt Robinson got both of Astley and Buckshaw’s goals, including a penalty.

Finally in Division Two, Pause United beat AFC Blackpool Reserves 2-1 thanks to goals from Jamie Bedford and Sonnie Thompson, either side of a strike from Morgan Champange.

Division One Reserve: Late drama in race for league lead

A last-minute winner from Harry Fryer took Thornton Cleveleys Reserves to the top of table as they beat CMB Reserves 4-3.
Fryer also opened the scoring, and after a brace from Danny Sumner, Thornton Cleveleys Reserves led 3-0 with just 25 minutes gone.

However, goals from Nathan Durrans, Andrew Bishop and Yazz Smajic saw CMB Reserves fight back to level the game at 3-3, before Fryer’s second in the final seconds of normal time restored Thornton Cleveleys Reserves’ lead, and ensured they would be heading to the summit.

The door at the top was left open after Hurst Green Reserves beat previous leaders Blackpool Wren Rovers Reserves 5-2.

A brace from Gary Knight, along with goals from Max Bryden, Matthew Bagot and James Coonan secured the win for Hurst Green Reserves, whilst Blackpool Wren Rovers’ goals came through Finn Marsh and Henry Wright.

Lostock St Gerards Reserves looked like they could be heading to the top for a period, before a late goal saw them draw 3-3 at Fulwood Amateurs Reserves.

Lostock St Gerards raced into a two-goal lead thanks to Dan Fryer and James Morley, only for Jordan Wignall and Joe Slinger to score quickfire strikes of their own early in the second-half to level the game at 2-2.

Lewis Grant restored Lostock St Gerards’ advantage, but again Fulwood Amateurs Reserves would find a way back through Kane Froggatt to secure a point.

The pendulum also swung wildly as Turton Reserves met Coppull United Reserves, with the latter eventually running out 4-3 winners in a thrilling clash.

Coppull United Reserves led 2-0 going into half-time thanks to goals from Scott Hendy and Jonty Mattock, but would pegged back by strikes from Cole Exley and Andrew Lane.

Mattock got his second off the game to put Coppull United Reserves 3-2 up with just five minutes of normal time to play, only for Bradley Hennifer to again pull Turton Reserves level just four minutes later.

There was one more twist to come though, as Scott Hendy popped up in the 92nd minute to score Coppull United Reserves’ fourth and what would prove to be the match-winner.

There was yet another comeback as Tempest United Reserves fought from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Horwich St Mary’s Victoria Reserves.

Cole Bridge and Sam Little established a two-goal cushion for the hosts, before goals from Nick Skelly and Spencer Derbyshire, the latter coming in the 90th, saw Tempest United Reserves claim a point.

And last but certainly not least in the Division 1 Reserve league, Poulton Reserves beat Croston Sports Reserves 6-4 in a ten-goal thriller.

Andy Harvie scored four of his side’s six goals, including a penalty, whilst Jarrod Bain and Dominic Gil also grabbed a goal apiece.

Croston Sports Reserves’ goals came through, Jonny Gough, Finn Cairns and a Niall Maloney.

Division 2 Reserve: Front-runners Eagley Reserves score four

League leaders Eagley Reserves beat Thornton Cleveleys A 4-0 thanks to goals from Tom Flitcroft, Lewis Greenhalgh, Karanga Zach-Browne and Charlie Needham, all of which were scored in the first half.

Haslingden St Marys Reserves also scored four as they triumphed 4-1 over Fulwood Amateurs A, with Zach Brierley, Toby Wilkinson, Joe McQuade and Jack Cain all finding the net.

Two goals in the final ten minutes of normal time saw Chipping Reserves battle to a 2-2 draw at Carnforth Rangers Reserves.

Cole Holt and Kieran Gorton had put the hosts 2-0 up, before Nathan Crook and Joe Wood netted to secure Chipping Reserves a share of the spoils.

And completed this weekend’s league action, Hesketh Bank Reserves won 1-0 at Lytham Town Reserves, with Aaron Blane scoring the only goal of the game.
