By Chris Wight

Turton move three points clear.

Turton continued their good form of last season and this and moved clear at the top of Division One with a hard earned 2-0 victory in Cumbria at GSK Ulverston Rangers. The goals were scored midway through each half by Rick Battersby and Keiron Sisson.

Bottom club Dalton United shared the points and eight goals as they drew at home in an exciting 4-4 encounter against Wyre Villa. At half time the score stood at 3-3. Fraser Shand helping himself to a first half hatrick in ten minutes. His first goal coming after half an hour. Jack Ashworth scored an early goal for Wyre and then they put two in the back of the net in the last two minutes of the half through Danny Ball and Isaac Crosbie. In the second half Danny Myles added a penalty for Dalton but Crosbie struck again to earn a point. The last 26 minutes produced no more goals.

The teams in 2nd, 3rd and 4th places all managed to lose. Burscough Richmond lost 1-0 at home to now 4th placed Poulton. The goal being scored by Andy Harvie on 18 minutes. Ladybridge lost at Hawcoat Park 4-0 (They drew the last time they met). The goals were shared by Elliott Moore, Nathan Reid, Carl McKay and Patrick Allington. Tempest United were on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline at Haslingden St Mary’s with Liam Stewart scoring in the 90th minute. Michael Saunders scored 3 for Haslingden with 2 in the first half. The other first half goal was scored by Isaac Wilde.

Next to bottom Askam United closed the gap on the teams directly above them with a much needed 3-2 win at home to Lytham Town. They had a little luck along the way as they were losing 2-0 at half time after goals by Danny Scarlett and Ric Tomlinson. But an own goal in the 70th minute seemed to galvanise Askam and Matthew Gribbin equalised in the 85th minute with Callum Rayner grabbing the winner in the 90th minute.

In the other game played in the division Hurst Green travelled to Mill Hill St Peter’s and after opening the scoring through Isaac Craven in the first half they then conceded a goal to Gary Holt midway through the second half to eventually come away with a deserved share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
