Division Two Round Up 9th April

CMB keep up the Pressure.

CMB maintained their push for a promotion place with a 4-2 win at home to Furness Rovers. Jordan Chubb gave the visitors the lead on 5 minutes only for Neil Holmes to level for the Bolton side. Scott Goulding restored Rovers lead on 38 minutes, only for Danny Warburton to level on 44 minutes and Wil Archer ensured the home side went in 3-2 up at the break. The second half was a tight affair and it took until the 89th minute for CMB to wrap things up when Scott McNair put the game beyond Rovers reach to maintain CMBs promotion chances.

Stoneclough also kept themselves in the race with a fine 2-1 win against Furness Cavaliers at Rampside Road. Joe McCann and Mark Gordons first half strikes were enough to give the Bolton side the points.

In the game of the day it was Milnthorpe Corinthians who snatched the points away at high flying Kendal County. Elliot Bousefield opened the scoring on 21 minutes for the visitors, only for Joe Baker to level on 39 minutes. In the second half the inform Danny Coid restored the lead for Milnthorpe only for Kris Clough to level up again on 55 minutes. Coid struck again on 63 minutes and it was Milnthorpe who held on to claim all three points in the battle at the top.

Croston Sports Club ran out 3-0 winners at Westhead Road. Ric Coley gave the home side the lead 3 minutes before half time, and Austin Waddecar made it 2-0 on 52 minutes. A fine Stephen Alty free kick wrapped up the points for Croston on 66 minutes with the game ending 3-0.

Bolton County ran out 6-1 winners at bottom side Swarthmoor Social. A Jimmy Smyth hat-trick and goals from Joe Fielding, Charlie Scholes and an own goal ensured County left Cumbria with the points. Graham Wilcox grabbed a consolation goal for the home side five minutes from time.
