Division One Round Up 2nd and 9th April

Turton on Verge of Promotion.

Saturday 9th April

Turton showed why they deserve to be at the top of the league with a 5-0 victory over a decent Wyre Villa side. Luke Bradbury opened the scoring on 15 minutes and Danny Locke added another in the 40th to give Turton a 2-0 half time lead. Kingsley Williams scored two goals in the second half (65 and 80) and then Turton added a fifth when Dillon Winstanley scored in the 85th minute.

In the battle to catch third placed Ladybridge two in form sides managed a creditable draw; it finished Poulton 3 Tempest 3. The score at half time was 2-2.
Scores for Poultons were by Josh Few, George Byrne and Andy Harvie with Tempest getting on the score sheet through Phil Howard, Sam Rothwell and Stephen Barlow.

The bottom two teams produced a highly entertaining draw. The game finished Dalton United 4 Mill Hill St Peters 4.
Gareth Jones opened the scoring for Dalton in the 16th minute but his team then conceded two late first half goals to go in 2-1 down. Ben Singleton and Gary Holt scoring for Mill Hill.
Oli Carswell equalised on 70 minutes but Mill Hill again scored two quick goals with Dale Bullen (74) and Ben Singleton (77) giving them a 3-2 lead. But that man Gareth Jones struck again on 87 minutes to give Dalton a share of the spoils.

Third bottom Askam United travelled to Hurst Green and ended up on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline. Hurst Green gained all three points through an early goal through Jake Craven and late second half goals via an Askam player and Jake Craven. Askam replied with a Scott Steele strike.

Saturday 2nd April

Burscough Richmond kept hold of second place with a l-0 away victory over struggling Mill Hill St Peters. Scott Taylor scoring in the 87th minute.

Third place Ladybridge consolidated their spot by beating an in form Haslingden St Mary’s side at home. Mike McGinlay scored in the 4th and 85th minutes for Ladybridge with Harry Brazel adding another on 55. The final score was 3-1. Scott Wylie got a goal back for Haslingden in the 91st minute.

Askham United entertained Hurst Green in a game they needed to win. The game ended in a 1-1 draw though. Tom Bartlett opened the scoring for Askam on 52 but Jordan Rayner equalised in the 83rd minute.

In the other game beating the weather Wyre Villa ground out a 0-0 home draw against GSK Ulverston Rangers.
