Thumping wins and 4-4 thrillers galore!

It's 'as you were' at the top of the first team divisions with title and promotion battles set to go to the wire, writes BEN SMITH with pictures of Fulwood Amateurs v Vickerstown by GRAHAM LANCASTER.

Premier Division leaders Burscough Richmond completed a remarkable feat this weekend, beating Whitehaven 2-0 to complete a perfect home season.

After a Matthew Russell penalty save, two goals from Raj Singh-Uppal, including one from the spot, sealed the win to make 15 wins from 15 home league matches for his side, who maintain their four-point advantage at the top of the table.

CMB remain in hot pursuit, however, after a 5-0 win over Milnthorpe Corinthians saw them maintain their own 100% home record.

And all five goals came via a different scorer, with Charlie Scholes, Obi Ebizie, Hayden Taylor, Robbie Deighan and Christian McCrory all getting on the scoresheet.

That result sets something of a theme of big victories in the Premier Division on Saturday, with none bigger than Poulton’s 7-1 triumph on the road at Wyre Villa.

Luke Noble netted a hat-trick, which was rounded off by an 84th minute penalty, whilst Nick Hepple also scored from the spot as he bagged a brace.

Josh Smith and Jacob Gregory also found the net for the visitors, whilst Wyre Villa’s only goal came courtesy of a Ryan Charnley spotkick.

Hurst Green went close to matching that scoreline as they won 6-1 away at Slyne with Hest.

James Wolfenden scored twice, whilst Tom Diver, Kit Lloyd, Danny Mort and Ryan Cattermole got one each.

Joe Wareing got on the hosts only goal of the game.

And in the last of a trio of comprehensive away wins, Thornton Cleveleys flew out of the blocks in their 5-0 win at Turton.

A Jake Mangan brace set the visitors one the way, before Tommy Dollin, Lewis Walmsley and Oliver Wilkinson all also netted before the half-hour mark to make it 5-0 with only a third of the game played.

Elsewhere, Fulwood Amateurs beat Vickerstown 4-0, with Will Pitt, Layton Kirnon, Jonty McDonald and Oliver Molloy each grabbing a goal.

And in the last of the Premier Division action, goals from Jacob Aspinall, Carl Eastwood and Tarren Moxon sealed a 3-0 win for Blackpool Wren Rovers against Lytham Town.

Division One leaders Lostock St Gerards showed little sign of letting up in their quest for a league title, as they beat Horwich St Mary’s Victoria 5-0.

Lewis Grant, Issac Loftus, Josh Sarda and Scott Hammill all netted before the break, before Danny Ormerod added a fifth seven minutes for time.

Rossendale remain in the title hunt, however, after they eventually secured a 3-2 victory at Hawcoat Park.

Tom Hartley, Tom Hulme and Sam Moriarty were the scorers for the visitors, whilst Sam Jefferson and Matthew Pickering netted for Hawcoat Park, who provided a real test for their promotion-chasing opponents.

Meanwhile, Askam United would also be pushed by bottom side Stoneclough, ultimately secured a 4-3 victory in the 95th minute through Callum Rayner.

A hat-trick from Karl Dunbarton looked to have secured a point for Stoneclough, after he cancelled out a Harry Bolton strike and two goals from Josh Jones, only for Rayner to find a winner deep into second-half stoppage time.

Elsewhere, Joe Blackshaw scored twice as Crookands Casuals came from behind to beat Kendal County 5-1.

Harvey Irving, Nathan Shaw and Sam Johnson also scored in the win, which came after Louis Miller’s goal had given Kendal County the lead in the first-half.

It took until the 73rd minute for Lewis Hanley to open the scoring for Haslingden St Marys against Millom, but his brace would set his side on their way to an eventual 3-0 victory, with a goal from Jack Cain rounding off the win.

And in the final Division One game to be completed, goals from Ryan Fletcher and Luke Blockley, either side of an own goal, saw Croston Sports win 2-1 at Carnforth Rangers.

Both Hesketh Bank vs Eagley and Southport Hesketh vs Ulverston Rangers were abandoned due to player injuries. Best wishes from all at the West Lancs go the players affected.

Chipping’s promotion charge continued in Division Two, with a 5-0 win at Burnley United leaving them just a point outside the top two, with games in hand with which to potentially make up the ground.

Rick Coar set the ball rolling just before half-time and second half strikes by John Ross, Jack Fletcher, Ethan Edmundson and Anthony Slater sealed the win.

And it was a big weekend for Walney Island, too, who moved up to second with a 2-1 win at Euxton Villa Reserves.

Zach Walker’s brace put the visitors two-up, and despite David Prout pulling one back for Euxton Villa Reserves, Walney Island would hold on to seal what could prove to be an important three points.

Walney Island play Holker Old Boys midweek in what could be a decisive match for both sides' promotion hopes.

Away from the tussle at the top, and a Carl Busby brace, either side of a goal from Kurt Robinson, helped Astley and Buckshaw registered a 3-2 win at Cartmel.

Jamie Airey and Danny Reeve gave the hosts hope of snatching a point late on, but a third goal would not be forthcoming.

Goals from Jake Baldwin, Sam Heyward and Andrew Murphy, along with a Tom Graham penalty, saw Garstang Reserves beat Dalton United 4-1, with Jordan Chubb scoring late consolation for Dalton United from the spot.

And Bailey Kenny and Jamie Harris were both on target for Kendal United as they won 2-0 at AFC Blackpool Reserves.

Lostock St Gerards Reserves may have already secured the Division One Reserve title, but showed no sign of taking their foot off the pedal on Saturday, scoring five unanswered goals at Horwich St Mary’s Victoria Reserves.

Adam Whittaker scored four of those goals, whilst Phil Stokes also got on the scoresheet.

Billy Dewhurst’s last-minute leveller secured a point for Fulwood Amateurs Reserves, in a game they had at one point led 3-0.

A Jordan Wignall strike and a brace from Joey Higham established the three-goal cushion against Blackpool Wren Rovers Reserves, only for Luke Smith, Steve McEwan and Anthony Utomi to power a remarkable comeback, with the latter scoring twice to make it 4-3.

There would be one more twist, however, with Dewhurst scoring in the final minute of normal time to bring the game to its final score of 4-4.

And it would also finish 4-4 between Tempest United and CMB Reserves, with Harry Dixon the standout performer as he netted a hat-trick for CMB Reserves, that after Scott McNair had opened the scoring.

Meanwhile, Tempest United Reserves’ goals came via Josh Firth, Nathan Allen and a brace from Jack Morris.

Gregg Brickell started and completed the scoring for Coppull United Reserves, as they beat Thornton Cleveleys Reserves 4-2.

Alex Dodoaca and Scott Hendy also netted in the win, whilst Thornton Cleveleys Reserves’ goals were both scored by Danny Sumner.

And finally, we moved on to Division Two Reserve, where just two games were played this weekend.

Storeys Reserves beat Lytham Town Reserves 2-0 thanks to quickfire goals from Kyle Summers and Declan Lightfoot, whilst Rossendale Reserves came from two down to beat Chipping Reserves 3-2.

Connor Wylie and Kieran Smithson put Chipping Reserves 2-0 up going into the break, only for Alex Chapleo and Jack Mounsey to lead a second-half turnaround, with the latter scoring twice.
