The top four in Division Two all won to keep the promotion battle red hot, writes BEN SMITH with pictures from Thornton Cleveleys v Burscough Richmond by ANDY BRADSHAW.

Premier Division: Burscough Richmond battle to precious point

Burscough Richmond are back on the top of the Premier Division, that’s after Raj Singh-Uppal’s brace secured a point at Thornton Cleveleys on Saturday.

The hosts took the lead through Tommy Dollin, and after Singh-Uppal’s double, Daniel Stoney was on hand to tie the game at its eventual final score of 2-2.

That result returned Burscough Richmond to the summit, though they remain separated only by that single point from second-placed CMB.

Meanwhile, a James Wolfenden strike and Charlie Collenge penalty saw Hurst Green beat Poulton 2-0, as Poulton’s outside shot at the title suffered a setback.

Elsewhere, Blackpool Wren Rovers won 3-0 at Vickerstown thanks to goals from Robbie Hulme, Jacob Aspinall and Oliver Burgess.

Whitehaven continued their progress up the table, moving up to 10th with a 2-1 win over Lytham Town.

Goals from Travis Fyfe and Carl Denver established a two-goal cushion for Whitehaven, and despite Ross Ainsworth pulling one back for Lytham Town just before the break, Whitehaven would hold on to take the three points.

The final two Premier Division fixtures to be completed this weekend both ended 1-1.

Sam Parkinson’s penalty was cancelled out by Maleck Tanou as Tempest United and Wyre Villa shared the spoils, whilst Milnthorpe Corinthians’ Jenson Butterworth also scored from the spot in his side’s draw with Coppull United, that after Mohammed Patel had opened the scoring.

Division One: Haslingden St Mary's hammer home seven

Haslingden St Mary's are up to fourth in Division One after a 7-0 victory over Hawcoat Park.

Leon Barker-Williams netted a hat-trick, whilst Rhys Barton also scored twice, including one from the penalty spot.

The scoring was then rounded off by Charlie Hulse and James Wright.

Horwich St Mary’s Victoria also enjoyed a free-scoring afternoon as they scored five at Askam United.

Alex Mackenzie bagged a brace, with Anthony Hough, Danny Hutton and Sam Little also getting on the scoresheet.

Stuart Neillands scored Askam United’s only goal.

Meanwhile, Croston Sports had four different scorers as they beat Millom, with Luke Blockley, Dion Holden, Ryan Fletcher and Jordan Freeman all grabbing a goal apiece, the latter netting from 12 yards.

And finally in Division One, Chris Wraighte’s 25th minute strike was enough to seal a 1-0 win for Ulverston Rangers at Carnforth Rangers.

Division Two: Bentley and Milburn lead fantastic Freckleton

Freckleton showed little sign in relenting in their bid to claim the Division Two title, registering an emphatic 7-0 win over Galgate.

Sam Milburn and Joe Bentley both scored hat-tricks in the win, before Macauley Hopkins completed the scoring.

Holker Old Boys Reserves kept up the pressure at the top, however, claiming three points of their own with a 3-1 win at Dalton United.

The hosts initially took the lead through Gareth Jones, but goals from Faryl Foster, Matthew McKee and Tom Dawson would see Holker Old Boys Reserves complete a comeback victory.

Walney Island and Chipping, third and fourth respectively, will also be keen to have their say in the title, with both possessing games in hand on the current top two.

And both were able to match the top two this weekend.

Goals from Joe Pearson, Hayden Skyrme, Reece Craig and James Bailey brace saw Walney Island beat Charnock Richard Reserves 5-1, with the only minor blemish being Noah Hobbs’ late consolation goal.

Meanwhile, Chipping recorded a 4-1 over Astley and Buckshaw thanks to a Rick Coar hat-trick and an own goal.

Kurt Robinson scored Astley and Buckshaw’s only goal of the game.
Away from matters at the top, and Euxton Villa Reserves were impressive in victory as they beat Cartmel.

Lewis Sullivan scored twice, whilst Sean Elliot, Alex Heredia-Kaye and Xavier Green also netted in a 5-1 win.

And Pause United and Burnley United played out a 1-1 draw, with Will Sharkey levelling after Umer Ahmed had opened the scoring 12 minutes in.

Division One Reserve: Hero Hendy seals stoppage time win

Coppull United Reserves twice fought from behind to seal a dramatic 3-2 win over Fulwood Amateurs Reserves.

Both Kane Froggatt and James Sidebottom saw goals cancelled out by Gregg Brickell as he scored a brace, before Scott Hendy netted what would prove to be the winning goal in the 92nd minute.

It was a flying start between Horwich St Mary’s Victoria and Turton Reserves, with Mike Cowburn and Ben McCabe scoring inside the opening five minutes for their respective sides.

Two goals from James Sigworth, either side of a Matthew Hancock equaliser, would ultimately seal a 3-2 win for Turton Reserves.

And Andrew Bartholomew’s goal earned a point for Poulton Reserves against Thornton Cleveleys Reserves, sealing a 1-1 draw after Stuart Dagger had opened the scoring.

Division Two Reserve: Storeys Reserves seal coveted three points

Storeys Reserves picked up just a third win of the season on Saturday, with goals from Luke Capstick and Kyle Summers, either side of a penalty from Josh Heap, sealing a 3-0 win over Thornton Cleveleys A.

And we round off this week’s edition of the round-up with Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves, who won 3-1 at Lytham Town Reserves.

Chris Harper and Tom Ladd were both on target for the visitors, that after an own goal had given them the lead.

Kai Clarkson scored what would prove to be a consolation for Lytham Town Reserves in the second-half.
