First Division Round up Easter Fixtures

Easter Saturday
Wyre Villa travelled to Ulverston and came back with a point in a 1-1 draw. A Danny Leech penalty on 24 minutes for GSK Ulverston Rangers) and Cristian Holden’s equaliser on 39 minutes ensured the honours ended even.

Leaders Turton travelled the short distance to Blackburn to take on Mill Hill St Peter’s and after Gary Holt had given Mill Hill the lead not long after kick off honours, Kingsley Williams equalised on 22 minutes, then Ali Dickson gave Turton the lead ,shortly before half time. Williams extended lead on 72,before Mill Hill’s Rob Smith reduced the score to 3-2 in the 73rd minute. Williams then gave Turton the game with his third in the 84th minute.

Hawcoat Park scored all the goals in their 5-1 defeat of Askam United. Nathan Reid (10) and Elliot Moore 20 and 21) gave the home side a 3-0 half time lead. Mike Melia added a fourth in the 67th minute, an own goal got Askam off the mark on 75 minutes but Hawcoat showed why they are up there challenging with Pat Allington’s goal in the 80th minute.

In the ‘big game’ Tempest failed to make home advantage count as they lost to second placed Burscough Richmond 2-1.
In a tight game Jordan Lorde opened the scoring for Burscough but Phil Howarth equalised on 75 minutes. Michael Galliers’ strike on 83 minutes won the game.

Poulton had an excellent 4-0 home win over Haslingden St Mary’s after going into a 3-0 lead in the first half with goals from Alex Harvie (29 and 39) and John Hay (34).
Matt Gardner added the final goal in the 61st minute.

In the other game played third placed and last season’s promoted team Ladybridge travelled to Hurst Green needing all three points to help them finish near the top of the table. This they duly did with goals from Sam Parkinson (24) and Phil Parkinson (85).

Easter Monday
Dalton’s home form continues to improve and they did it in style with an emphatic 7-1 victory over third in the table Ladybridge.
That man Gareth Jones showed the Cumbrian side the way with three goals in 25 minutes, a 45th minute penalty then further strikes on 53 and 70 minutes.
In the first half Joe Fiddler (2) and Andy Foster (30) had given Dalton a 2-0 lead. Jones then made it 4-0 but David Walker then pulled one back for the visitors on 65th minute. But the joy was short lived as Jones added his third (5-1) and Fraser Shand helped himself to a brace 0n 80 and 85 minutes.
Ladybridge will be hoping that they can win their last two games to keep away from those chasing to finish in third place or higher.

Top of the table Turton took the shortish trip to Hurst Green and came away with a 3-1 victory.
Alan Carr opened the scoring for the Preston side on two minutes but Turton struck back to lead 2-1 and half time with goals from Danny Locke on 40 and Ali Dickson in the 44th minute.
In the second half Luke Bradbury sealed victory with a strike in the 56th minute.

Second in the table Burscough Richmond did not have a good afternoon losing 4-0 at home to a decent Haslingden St Mary’s side. Craig Watts scored the tenth minute to give the visitors a slender half time lead. But goals early in the second half from Michael Saunders (47) and a second from Watts (53) effectively ended the contest. To rub it in even more Scott Wylie converted in the 90th minute.

Askam United gained a creditable 1-1 draw at home to Tempest United. Kyle Jefferson scored in the twelfth minute for Askam but Stephen Barlow evened things up for Tempest with his effort just after the break (48).

Wyre Villa’s topsy turvey season continued with a 2-1 home loss to ever improving Hawcoat Park.
Pat Allinton put the visitors ahead after 13 minutes and Nathan Reid made it 2-0 after 64 minutes.
Jack Ashworth’s goal on 85 minutes made for an exciting finish.
