First Division Round up 7th May

By Chris Wight

Promotion still on hold.

Tempest United’s heroics last Tuesday evening in beating Champions Turton away 3-0 (Kurtis Farlow, Tom Booth and Phil Howard) were undone at home to inconsistent Wyre Villa when they went down to an odd goal defeat. Cliff Haslem opened the scoring for Villa on 38 minutes, Phil Howard then equalised but Haslem then scored another before half time. Phil Howard made it 2-2 on 47 mbut Naill Cummings popped up to score the winner on 65 minutes.

Turton’s mini slump continued with a 1-1 home draw against improving GSK Ulverston Rangers. Andrew Butler struck in the 31st minute for GSK but John McLoughlin spared the blushes when he equalised with a late goal in the 80th minute.

Hurst Green entertained promotion hopefuls Burscough Richmond and left it late securing a 2-0 win. Alex Grice and Danny Walker scored the goals for the Preston side.

In the other game played Lytham Town entertained Dalton United in an exciting game.
Ben Proctor made it 1-0 on ten minutes for the Blackpool side, then added a second 3 minutes later, and when Danny Scarlett added a third after 24 minutes it looked like a heavy defeat for the struggling Cumbrians. Goals by Rossa Miller after 30 minutes and Joe Fiddler on 40 mins made the half time score more respectable at 3-2.
Miller scored again on 51 minutes to make it 3-3 but the fairy tale ending was not to bas Ric Tomlinson netted the winner after 76 minutes for Lytham
