Tremendous Trawden start season with a bang!

The East Lancashire side scored five without reply at Aaron Helliwell's Galgate in Division Two.

They were two up inside eight minutes before Alfie Percival's hat-trick sealed the statement win.

Garstang Res, Dalton United and Euxton Villa Res all hit four in impressive wins while Mill Hill snatched victory in injury time after being 2-0 down at Caton United with only 22 minutes left to play.

Thornton Cleveleys Res and the league’s other new boys Standish St Wilfrid’s both scored late to earn a point away from home at Appley Bridge and Storeys respectively.

In the Premier Division, the two promoted sides had a mixed afternoon – Kendal County saw off CMB by the odd goal in three, while Tempest United lead the embryonic table with a 4-0 defeat of Hesketh Bank.

They are both joined on three points by Astley & Buckshaw, Poulton, Haslingden St Mary’s and Blackpool Wren Rovers, the latter spoiling Burscough Richmond’s first match at their impressive new ground with a narrow 1-0 win.

Last year’s champions Eagley left West Cumbria with a point thanks to Cole Collins late equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Cleator Moor Celtic.

Hurst Green and Lostock St Gerards cancelled each other out in a 0-0 score draw.

In Division One, Fulwood Reserves and Stoneclough continued last season’s promotion form, both scoring five in wins over Turton and Holker Old Boys respectively.

Isaac Hayes, fresh from a hat-trick in a pre-season match against Hesketh Bank, hit four in Croston Sports’ 5-1 defeat of Askam while Job Jobling was the match winner for Carnforth late on in their 2-1 win over Freckleton.

Zac Wilson grabbed a double in Chipping’s 2-0 win at Ulverston while Steve Brown also notched a brace for Kendal United in their 4-1 victory over Coppull United.

And Whitehaven settled into life in Division One well with a 4-0 win over Slyne.

And finally in Reserve Division One, reigning champions Blackpool Wren Rovers started with a 2-0 win over last season’s Reserve Division Two title holders Hurst Green thanks to Haiden Wrathall and Anthony Utomi.

There were also wins for CMB Res, Chipping Res, Haslingden St Mary’s Res, Carnforth Res and Tempest Res.
