League update: April fixtures and midweeks

By Andy Sykes

With the final few months of the season upon us, we caught up with league Chairman and Fixtures Secretary Andy Hosker to get an update on what clubs should expect with fixtures.

The clocks go forward on Sunday March 29 – should we expect midweek fixtures from that Tuesday?
Unlikely. Sunset that week is still before 8pm, so ensuring games are completed may be tricky. If there are any midweeks scheduled that week, it would be at grounds with floodlights.

Will there be fixtures on Bank Holiday Monday April 6?
Yes, there’s scheduled fixtures across most or all the divisions that day. We have some clubs still with 13, 14 and 15 games to play so it’s a case of needs must.

Some clubs will have to play Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday at some point. We will try to keep midweek fixtures as local as possible.

Will the season still finish on April 25?
We’re planning on Saturday May 2 now being the final weekend of the season for many. That allows us another midweek (April 28/29) to get outstanding games played if required.
