Caton United join league ranks as reserve divisions bolstered

Caton United were successfully elected to the West Lancashire Football League while Galgate were unanimously re-elected at the league's AGM.

At Lancashire FA, member clubs voted for Galgate and new club Caton United to compete in Division Two next season.

Galgate had to apply to stay in the league after finishing bottom of Division Two.

Trimpell and Bare Rangers were unsuccessful in their attempts to win election to the league when members voted against their application.

Freckleton will have a reserve side in Division Two Reserve next season while Rossendale will field an 'A' side - a third team - also in Division Two Reserve.

Cleator Moor Celtic were formally welcomed into the West Lancashire League following their relegation from the North West Counties League. It means there will be 17 teams in the Premier Division next season.

Cartmel, Vickerstown and Burnley United will no longer compete in the West Lancashire League and we wish them all well in their future endeavours.

DIV 1 - 15 sides
DIV 2 - 15 sides
RES 1 - 12 sides
RES 2 - 13 sides

The 2023/24 season will begin on August 5.
