Lytham Town gave their hopes of Premier Division survival a huge boost on Saturday writes BEN SMITH with pictures from Dalton v Chipping by LEE HOLMES.

Goals from Danny Scarlett and Gareth Lowcock sealed a 2-0 victory at Turton for Lytham Town.

That result, coupled with defeats for both Milnthorpe Corinthians and Vickerstown, saw Lytham Town leapfrog the aforementioned duo to move up into 14th place in the Premier Division.

Goals from Josh Niblock and Billy Whittle saw league leaders Burscough Richmond beat Milnthorpe Corinthians 2-0, whilst a Dylan Winstanley double saw second-placed CMB beat Vickerstown, whose goal was scored by Jack Litherland, by two goals to one.

Elsewhere, a Nick Hepple hat-trick helped Poulton record a 5-1 win at Whitehaven.

Jacob Gregory also scored twice for the visitors, whilst Whitehaven’s only goal came via Owen Woodburn.

Will Pitt, Will Simm and Jonty McDonald were all on the scoresheet as Fulwood Amateurs won 3-1 against Coppull United, who pulled one back with 15 minutes to play through Jimmy McIver.

And in the weekend’s final Premier Division game, Slyne with Hest won 4-0 on the road at Wyre Villa, with Joe Wareing, Reece Pearce, Danny Dixon and Ricardo Proctor each grabbing a goal.

Lostock St Gerards appear to be closing in on the Division One title after picking up another win this weekend, this time beating Carnforth Rangers 4-0.

Ben Hudson, Alex Caunce, Zach Wilkes and Isaac Loftus all scored in the win, which came as Millom’s Jamie Pattinson put two past third-placed Rossendale to seal a 2-0 win for his side.

Rossendale will now need a near-perfect end to the season, and a near-total Lostock St Gerards collapse, to overhaul an existing 12-point deficit in the title race.

Hesketh Bank’s title hopes were all but mathematically over after defeat in midweek, but the second-placed side bounced back well to beat Ulverston Rangers 2-1, with Tom Smyth and Joe Smyth-Ferguson netting either side of Kayden Butler’s equaliser.

They can still win promotion but require another Rossendale slip-up.

At the other end of the table, a Ben Marshall penalty saw Stoneclough edge Hawcoat Park 1-0 in the battle of the bottom two, in what was Hawcoat Park’s final game of their league campaign.

Meanwhile, Haslingden St Marys also claimed a 1-0 win, with Jordan Lewis’ goal enough for all three points at Kendal County.

Eagley and Croston Sports complete our look at Division One, and the two sides played out a 1-1 draw, after Kieran Sissons cancelled out Spencer Mercer’s opener.

Chipping are drawing ever-closer to replacing Freckleton at the top of Division Two table, and aided their efforts with a 6-2 win at Dalton United this weekend.

Matthew Shorrock, Jake Unsworth, Jake Fletcher, Ethan Edmundson, Gregg Trimbell and Sam Chatburn all netted for a Chipping side now just three points from top spot, with two games left in which to surpass Freckleton’s final total of 66 points.

Jordan Chubb scored both goals for Dalton United.

Kendal United also recorded a big win, scoring five without reply against AFC Blackpool Reserves.

Daniel Craig, Tom Russell, Ryan Close and George Key all grabbed a goal, with Bailey Kenny also scoring from the spot.

Cartmel and Galgate played out a remarkable 4-4 draw, with the former battling from behind on four separate occasions to earn a point.

Galgate led twice in the first-half thanks to a brace from Charlie Andrews, only for him to see his goals cancelled out by Ryan Patterson and Tomas Sanchez respectively.

They would also lead twice late through Chris Stripp and Brett McGovern, but would be pegged again on both occasions thanks to a Danny Reeve double.

Elsewhere, Storeys picked up three points on the road, defeating Euxton Villa Reserves 2-1.

There was just Division One Reserve on Saturday, and it saw CMB Reserves beat Poulton 5-2, in a game where Josh Pope and Harry Dixon both scored twice.

Jack Locke scored the opener for CMB Reserves, whilst Poulton Reserves’ goals came through Andrew Bartholomew and Danny Morris.

In Division Two Reserve, a Brad Marsh hat-trick helped Rossendale Reserves record a 6-2 victory over Hesketh Bank Reserves- a victory which sealed promotion.

Oli Williams, James Sanderson and Brad Marsh also got on the scoresheet, whilst Sam Cope and David Yeates netted for Hesketh Bank Reserves.

A double from Dan Nowell, either side of a Reece Wood strike, saw Milnthorpe Corinthians beat leaders Eagley Reserves 3-1.

Ross Wakefield had brought Eagley Reserves level with just ten minutes to play, but his side would go on to fall just a second league defeat of the season.

And completing this edition of the round-up are Haslingden St Mary’s Reserves, who beat Lytham Town Reserves 2-0 thanks to goals from James Stanley and Joe McQuade.
