Four new clubs to join West Lancashire League

By Andy Sykes

Astley and Buckshaw, Pause United, AFC Blackpool Reserves and Holker Old Boy Reserves were elected on to the West Lancashire League for the 2022/23 season at the AGM.

Cartmel and District and Galgate were re-elected.

Myerscough FC and Kendal Town Reserves were not successful in their applications to join the league.

Pause United (pictured above) will be based in Bentham, which is about 15 miles east of Lancaster.

It means there will be 16 teams in the Premier, Division One and Division Two next season.

All four new teams will start in Division Two.

Poulton, who were relegated from the Premier Division, were reprieved as a result of Euxton Villa's progression to the North West Counties League.

There will be 13 teams in Reserve Division One and 12 teams in Reserve Division Two.

Furness Rovers have resigned from the league while Wyre Villa have axed their reserve side.

Referee fees will rise from £30 to £40.

The season will start on August 6 with fixtures due to be released next month.
