Walney’s weird away record, Bibby’s treble keeps Euxton in hunt and awesome Yawson scores four

There was an early scare when Lytham went 1-0 up before three minutes had ticked by, but there was no reason to fear in the end, with Euxton walking away 8-2 victors, thanks largely to prolific striker Patrick Bibby.

It was Bibby who equalised for Villa in the 15th minute, levelling the arrears again after Dan Stammers had scored for Lytham.

Sam Parkinson added Euxton’s second 10 minutes later and the score at half time was 2-1 to the visiting side, with no suggestion that the game would become as chaotic as it did.

It took Euxton until the 57th minute to notch their third through Bibby, and then the floodgates opened.

Matt Atherton and Michel Galliers scored and Bibby got his third to make it 6-1. Kian Kelly got one back for Lytham but Ian Billington and Liam McNally finished things off totally.

The only consolation for Lytham is that their position in the table is still very solid, with 19 points from 12 games and only being three points away from third-place.

The only other game in the Premier Division this weekend saw Southport Hesketh draw 3-3 with Whitehaven Amateurs.

Travis Fyfe scored first for Whitehaven, but a Mark Houghton double and a goal from Adam Mackin saw Southport Hesketh go into the break 3-1 up.

Second-half goals from Kian Golding and Bobby Carter ensured that the points were split, and that’s not a bad result at all from an ever-improving Southport Hesketh side.

Division 1: Yawson’s awesome foursome helps Corinthians stretch lead

Steven Yawson scored four goals as Milnthorpe Corinthians batted away third-placed Eagley 5-0 to widen the gap at the top of the table to six points.

Milnthorpe’s other goal was scored by Nathan Hankinson as Jimmy Marshalls’ team recorded their first win in October.

Also in Division 1, Horwich St Mary’s Victoria moved back into positive points with their win over Kendal County. The game ended 2-0 to the visitors with Matthew Hancock and Jordan Prescott converting to give Horwich their first win of the season.

Ulverston Rangers also won 2-0. 11th-placed Croston Sports were their opponents and had no answer for the finishes of Josh Catlott and Mark Jackson.

Title challengers Lostock St Gerards did what they could to keep up with Milnthorpe Corinthians with their 1-0 win over Hawcoat Park, Aaron Quigley scored the winner in that game.

Finally, in Divison 1, the only game to end in a draw was between Askam United and Crooklands Casuals. Askam went 2-0 up through Harvey Irving and Luke Reid, but a 70th-minute goal from Macauley Woods and Morgan Trelore’s 80th-minute penalty guaranteed that both teams would leave with a point.

Division 2: Walney win away… again!

Walney Island have one of the oddest records across any division of the West Lancashire League at the moment. They have yet to win a game at home and are yet to lose one when away.

It looked as though that record was in real jeopardy with Walney’s visit to Charnock Richards Reserves (pictured) this Saturday when the home team found themselves a goal to the good within five minutes through Daniel Reagan’s goal.

Walney fought back to lead 2-1 thanks to goals from James Bailey and Matthew McKee before Louis Robinson levelled things up again in the 41st minute.

That started an amazing spell of three goals in two minutes for Walney.

James Bailey and Bailey Murrow both scoring in the 44th-minute, with Zach Walker converting just a minute later.

Charnock Richard Reserves, who now find themselves four points short of their opponents, did their best to bring it back through two Ross Ellison goals but Zach Walker’s second (and Walney’s sixth) put paid to any threat with almost 20 minutes still to play.

This win means that Walney Island have picked up nearly 80 per cent of their points this season (17 out of 21) away from home.

Another big result in Division 2 saw Furness Rovers beat Garstang 6-0.

Max Green got a hat-trick for Furness, with the other goals coming courtesy of Elliott Grafton, Liam Shields and Dillon Wassell. That result moved Furness into joint second, level on points with Carnforth Rangers.

Burnley United beat Kendal United 3-1. Harris Tomlinson scored the first of the game for Burnley only for Matthew Kennedy to equalise almost immediately.

Burnley’s quick start didn’t slow down though and goals from Niall Edmondson and Reid Wolstenholme won the game for the home team.

Chipping and Dalton United were also in action. Playing out a 1-1 draw, Rick Coar got the Chipping leveller in the 89th-minute

Division 1 Reserve: Euxton Reserves start to pull away

Euxton Villa reserves did their best to match the achievements of the first team this weekend in maintaining the top spot in the Division 1 Reserve.

Villa Reserves couldn’t quite hit the heights of an 8-2 scoreline but their 3-1 win over Turton Reserves - thanks to a double from Ashley Ball and a goal from Mike Murrell - was enough to extend the gap between first and second to seven points.

Hurst Green Reserves moved up to fourth with their 4-2 victory of Horwich St Mary’s Victoria Reserves, though it is worth noting that Hurst Green have played as many as three games more than some of their direct rivals.

Burscough Richmond Reserves and Tempest United Reserves played out a 1-1 draw. Alex Worthington scored for Burscough in the 16th minute before Ryan Keegan salvaged a point with an 89th-minute equaliser.

Division 2 Reserve: Ben Cecil and Rob Norton go hay-Wyre

Ben Cecil and Rob Norton both got hat-tricks in Wyre Villa’s 9-0 destruction of Storeys Reserves.

Andrew Richards, Byron Andrew and Sam Bowling scored the other three goals for the team currently occupying second place in the table.

Another cracking game was occurring between Fulwood Amateurs A and Lytham Town Reserves, with Fulwood just scraping a 6-5 win.

Rossendale Reserves slipped further away from the top two with a 4-1 defeat to table-toppers Coppull United. Owen Brighty got Rossendale’s goal in that game.

Thornton Cleveleys A were 2-0 victors over Galgate reserves. Owen Walmsley and Jimmy Radcliffe the points winners on this occasion.

Finally, Haslingden St Mary's Reserves survived a late scare to take all three points from Chipping Reserves.

Henry Hindle and Toby Wilkinson had put Haslingden ahead before Charlie Dewhurst’s tension-creating 80th minute finish.

Haslingden managed to see the game out though and now sit in fourth.
