Premier Division: Dom-inant Lawson bags three in win

Dom Lawson’s 17th, 18th and 19th goals of the season fired Thornton Cleveleys towards an 8-0 defeat of Whitehaven Amateurs to extend the home team's lead at the apex of the Premier Division table.

A double from Josh O’Neil and goals from Adam Heaney, Matthew Wood and Reece Young, saw the game quickly escape Whitehaven and, unfortunately for the team, they were unable to recover.

In slightly better news for Whitehaven, the pitch issues caused by excessive rainfall and flooding have been fixed thanks to some great community fundraising.

£8,500 was raised within 24 hours of a GoFundMe being set up says a lot about the great people surrounding the club.

Hurst Green closed the gap on Vickerstown with their 2-1 win over Coppull United.

The win came despite Coppull going ahead within nine minutes thanks to a goal from Nathan Bibby.

Marc Young snatched an equaliser with half an hour of the game played before Jordan Monk netted Hurst’s winner with 30 minutes left to play.

Burscough Richmond picked up their fifth away win of the season against Poulton.

Dillon Bosque-Green scored Burscough’s first midway through the first half before Stuart Danson equalised with only a few minutes left to play before the break.

Danny Huyton’s 79th-minute penalty was the eventual decider, with Burscough now moving level on points with Fulwood Amateurs.

As it turned out, Poulton’s poor result was the least of their worries.

Southport Hesketh had propped up the table nearly since the season commenced, but their 1-0 win over Lytham Town, courtesy of an Adam Mackin goal, saw them go above Poulton by one point.

The final game in Premier Division saw CMB triumph over Turton 2-0. An own goal and a finish from Daniel Locke were enough to see CMB move above Lytham Town in the table.

Division 1: Milnthorpe fall to a second defeat of the season

Milnthorpe Corinthians have been the pace-setters in Division 1 this season and headed into this weekend with an eight-point advantage over second-placed Wyre Villa, but the league’s top scorers could only put one past an impressive Hesketh Bank side, who managed to take three points from their trip up the M6.

When Corinthians went 1-0 up within a minute, it seemed as though the game would follow the same pattern as the rest of the league leader's games this season, but Hesketh Bank, who have strung together some decent performances themselves this season, managed to fight back through first-half goals from Tony Bond and Tom Smyth, and then hold on to the advantage for the whole of the second period.

It was a statement victory for the team now occupying fourth in the table.

Millom won 3-1 against Kendal County despite falling behind to a Brody Moffatt penalty. The comeback was inspired by two players called Pattinson. Danny grabbing the equaliser, Jamie giving Millom the advantage and Danny rounding the game off with his second and his team’s third.

Askam United defeated Ulverston Rangers 3-1 in a game that was won in a 10 minute period in the second half.

Askam had gone ahead through Harry Bolton before Zac Milby’s goal restored parity for Ulverstone. Sam Taylor and Harry Irvine then scored in quick succession to secure all three points for Askam.

Hawcoat Park won 2-0 against Crooklands Casuals, who are still struggling at the bottom of the table. Crooklands’ poor luck this season seemed doomed to continue from the 30th minute when an own goal game Hawcoat the lead.

It took the rest of the game for the away side to add another but Nathan Cloudsdale’s 93rd-minute goal will have represented yet another kick to the guts for Crooklands.

Elsewhere, Horwich St Marys Victory drew 1-1 with Eagley.

Division Two - Are you sure it’s JOE Rodriguez?

A hat-trick from the Burnley United player must have been enough to have him confused with former England international and current Burnley player Jay Rodriguez, as the goalscorer made the difference in Burnley United’s 5-3 win over Charnock Richard Reserves.

Ross Ellison and Connor Jamieson’s double gave Charnock a convincing lead going into the break, but goals from Harris Tomlinson and Niall Edmondson narrowed the game before hat-trick hero Rodriguez displayed his goalscoring talent to send Charnock packing.

Galgate won 4-2 against Furness Rovers in a thrilling game. With Galgate 2-0 up thanks to a Jakub Kowalik double, Jordan Chubb’s goal threatened to make for a tense last 20 minutes, only for Ciaran Killfin to restore Galgate’s two-goal advantage again.

Owen Griffiths then made it 3-2 with eight minutes remaining, but Killfin was there again, scoring two minutes later to tie up the win.

Chipping beat Garstang 4-0 thanks to goals from John Ross, Martin Cookson, Matthew Shorrock and Luke Conti.

Two late goals saw the points shared between Freckleton and Rossendale, with Steven Johnson and Scott Wylie both scoring in the 90th minute to ensure that the match ended 1-1.

Finally, Cartmel and District beat Dalton United 1-0 thanks to Danny Reeve’s first-half goal.

Division 1 Reserve: Knight in shining armour

Gary Knight’s hat-trick was vital in ensuring Hurst Green Reserves smashed promotion rivals Poulton reserves 6-1. Matthew Bagot, Courtney Grell and John Stead were the other Hurst goalscorers whilst Tom Shuttleworth scored Poulton’s sole strike.

Horwich St Mary's Victoria reserves won 7-0 against Eagley Reserves. Kyle Boulding (2) Joe McLean, Saul Guffogg, Jacob Stevenson, Taylor Pugh and Phillip Wallace the scores for the third-from-bottom side.

Fulwood Amateurs Reserves triumphed over Burscough Richmond Reserves 5-1. The scoring was opened by Harrison Botes before Raj Uppal got Burscough back on terms. Kane Froggatt’s double then swung the game in Dulwood’s direction before Noah Hindley and Aaron Alton’s late goals made the scoreline all the more impressive.

Turton Reserves’ 4-2 win over CMB reserves reduced the gap between the two clubs to only three points after Tom McKee and Leighton Clough’s braces rendered the goals of CMB duo Michael Ford and Josh Pope irrelevant.

Croston Sports Reserves and Thornton Cleveleys Reserves played out a 2-2 draw. Mark Forshaw quickly cancelled out Josh Wood’s Thornton opener before Luke Blockley’s attempt to score the winner was foiled by Billy Cartmel’s 60th-minute equaliser.

Tempest United Reserves beat Lostock St Gerards Reserves 3-0 thanks to a goal from Mark Drew and a double from Nick Skelly.

Division 2 Reserve: Holt from the blue

Cole Holt scored a hat-trick as Carnforth Rangers Reserves beat Storeys Reserves 5-0. The other goals were scored by Sam Lancaster and Richard Bell.

Gregg Brickell scored FOUR as Coppull United Reserves also triumphed 5-0, their opponents were Galgate Reserves. Lee Richardson got the final goal in that game.

Fulwood Amateurs A were well beaten by Haslingden St Mary's Reserves. 6-1 was the score there with a brace from Jack Mounsey and goals from Toby Wilkinson, Forlan Jakovleves, Zach Brierley and Joe McQuade meant that Jack Bashall’s late goal for Fulwood would serve as nothing more than a consolation.

Wyre Villa Reserves beat Hesketh Bank Reserves 3-0. Rob Norton scored once and Daniel Fryer got a brace for the away side.

Lytham Town Reserves beat Chipping Reserves 1-0 thanks to a goal from Kai Clarkson while Rossendale Reserves beat Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves 3-1.
